Description

The Saleae Logic 8 is a compact 8 channel logic analyser whose applications range from firmware debugging, FPGA debugging, function verification, performance profiling, reverse engineering/reconstruction, protocol decoding to simple data logging. The logic analyser allows digital data acquisition at speeds of up to 100 MSa/s. The analyser is connected to a PC via USB, to which all data is streamed in real time. Due to direct streaming, the maximum recording length is only limited by the size of the internal hard disk of the connected PC.

The innovative and user-friendly software Logic 2 (Windows, Mac, Linux) is included in the scope of delivery. The software enables complex analysis of all incoming data and provides comprehensive trigger settings. In addition, Logic 2 offers the possibility to decode and analyse over 25 serial protocols.

Main functions

  • Eight channels (digital/analogue channels).
  • Digital sample rate (max.): 100 MS/s.
  • 25  MHz max. digital bandwidth.
  • Analogue sample rate (max.): 10 MS/s.
  • 1 MHz analogue bandwidth.
  • Resolution of A/D conversion 10 bit.
  • Analogue input range 0...+5 V.
  • Trigger: Edge or pulse width trigger.
  • Deep sample buffer.
  • RGB LED, customisable with 24 bit colours.
  • USB 2.0 HighSpeed.

Debugging that simply works. Stable, user-friendly and fully cross-platform, Logic 2 makes capturing, visualising and searching for your signals a breeze.
Explore your board-level communications interactively with Live Trigger on Protocol and Protocol Search. Unlike an oscilloscope, all your traffic is recorded - you can stop at any time and analyse exactly what happened and why.
All test modules can be run either in parallel or individually. Running in parallel increases the system load, reduces burn-in time and helps find subtle errors. It is also possible to customise the duty cycle of each test module.

Test results can be output in various formats, including text and HTML. The software can create user-customised product test certificates, debug logs and also includes extensive system information such as CPU, GPU temperatures, hard drive and memory serial numbers.

Hardware details

Saleae's Logic analysers feature an analogue-to-digital converter that provides both digital and analogue display. The analyser has an analogue acquisition speed of 10 MS/s and a digital one of 100 MS/s. The analogue acquisition has a bandwidth of 1 MHz and a resolution of 10 bits. The analogue acquisition is done with 1 MHz bandwidth and a resolution of 10 bits, which allows an accurate picture of the signal behaviour to be drawn.
