Description

TySOM-M-MPFS250 is a compact SoC prototyping board Microchip PolarFire SoC MPFS250T-FCG1152 device that features a multi-core Linux-ready processor subsystem based on the RISC-V ISA, making it the right choice for a Mid-range embedded computing platform that inherits all the benefits of the PolarFire FPGA family. The RISC-V CPU microarchitecture implementation is a simple, 5-stage, single issue-in-order pipeline that does not suffer from the Meltdown and Specter exploits found in popular out-of-order machines are. The cores consist of SiFive E51 Monitor Core (1x RV64IMAC) and SiFive U54 Application Cores (4x RV64GC). They are coherent with the memory subsystem and enable a versatile mix of deterministic real-time systems and Linux in a single multi-core CPU cluster. The PolarFire device contains FPGA with 254K logic elements, LSRAM, uPROM and uRAM.

Applications

TySOM-M-MPFS250 is designed to provide flexibility in selecting peripherals to take full advantage of the PolarFire MPFS250 device's capabilities. As for memory, this embedded prototyping board includes 16Gb FPGA DDR4 x32, 16Gb MSS DDR4 x36 with ECC, eMMC, SPI Flash memory, 64Kb EEPROM and uSD card socket. There are 2x Ethernet 10/100/1000, 1x USB 2.0, USB to UART Bridge, PCIe x4 Gen2 Root, CAN, HDMI OUT interfaces for external communication. In order to expand the peripherals on the board, 2x FMC connectors (HPC and LPC) conforming to VITA 57.1 were provided on the board, so that additional devices can be connected to this board as FMC daughter cards.

This board is ideal for prototyping safe and energy efficient designs for a variety of applications such as Imaging, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI, ML), Internet of Things (IoT ), industrial automation, automotive, aerospace and defense, wireless access networks and cellular infrastructure.
