Description

The Backup Boot Flash is a flexible tool designed to force the application controller to automatically work with the Backup SPI Flash plugged into the SO8N socket, rather than the Main Serial Flash soldered to the board. When connected to the board, the BBF tool automatically disables the Main Serial Flash, which does not need to be desoldered.

Features

  • Compatible with most applications (no hardware modification required)
  • Automatically disables both Main Serial Flashes soldered to the board (no desoldering required)
  • Main Serial Flash can be re-enabled with a switch on the BBF tool
  • Backup Serial Flash can be easily updated by connecting SF100 programmer

Connection & Application

    • The BBF cable (included) to the application's 2X5 2.54mm header.
    • The BBF cable (included) to the SMT 1.27mm header (included), which is soldered in place of the Main Serial Flash footprint for better stability.
    • The SO8 test terminal (purchased separately) connects to the Main Serial Flash package, which is soldered to the board (no connector required).

The serial flash can be easily changed manually thanks to the SO8N socket or even updated by connecting our SF100 programmer. The SF100 Programmer is completely transparent to the application and gives the developer great flexibility for code testing or updates. The BBF is used, among other things, to boot faulty computers and use the Flash Utility Tools to update corrupted bios memory.

Please note that the BBF modules only support 3.3V/2.5V IC.
It is recommended to use a socket adapter for offline programming only.
