Description

Flash Center™ software is a software package that allows engineers to quickly erase, program and verify I2C and SPI-based EEPROM and Flash memory chips that are connected via Total Phase's Promira™ serial platform, the Aardvark™ I2C/ SPI Host Adapter, and Cheetah™ SPI Host Adapter.

The Flash Center software already supports many common ICs. In the event that the device to be programmed is not listed, the software allows users to add storage devices to the parts library with a simple extension of the XML file. See the Knowledge and Total Phase website section for details on adding additional storage devices.

Fast programming speeds

Flash Center software leverages Total Phase's high-performance host adapters to maximize programming speed. Unlike other programmers who take minutes to program a storage device, Flash Center software can program the same device in seconds. No need to download images to an external programmer – the bytes are sent directly from the host computer to your target device.

Because the Cheetah SPI host adapter can send signals in excess of 40MHz, the main speed limitation is the page commit time of the flash memory. The Cheetah adapter is capable of erasing, programming and verifying a typical 1 megabyte of flash memory in just 23 seconds.

Gang programming support

Group programming is easy with Flash Center software. By connecting multiple Aardvark I2C/SPI and/or Cheetah SPI Host Adapters to your computer, you can use any or all of the devices to program your target devices in parallel.

Device support

Users do not have to wait for the next release to get support for their memory chips that will be added to Flash Center software. Flash Center software was developed using an XML-based storage device library. By adding or modifying the XML descriptions of target storage devices, developers can support almost any I2C or SPI-based EEPROM or Flash memory out of the box.
