Description

The SDG8004A is a high-resolution, 4-channel function and arbitrary waveform generator from the SDG8000A series. Designed for demanding development and testing applications, the instrument delivers output frequencies up to 5 GHz (5 GHz at 12 GSa/s, 4 GHz at 10 GSa/s) with up to 16-bit vertical resolution. Its architecture allows for up to 4 Gpts of waveform memory per channel, modular IQ output, and a modulation bandwidth of up to 2 GHz. Operation is via the integrated 7-inch touchscreen; interfaces include USB host/device and LAN, with GPIB available as an option. Typical applications include RF and communication testing, IoT/Bluetooth/WLAN simulations, 5G/LTE signal generation, and precise pulse and serial data simulations.

The SDG8004A is specifically designed for developers and test labs requiring broadband, high-precision signals. The combination of 16-bit resolution, interpolated sampling rate (10 GSa/s, optionally 12 GSa/s in IQ mode), and up to 4 Gpts of memory per channel enables long, detailed waveforms even at high bandwidth. The device includes extensive internal functions such as multi-pulse, multi-tone, chirp/LFM, and sequencing and segment playback for complex test sequences. Integrated digital modulation and compatibility with standardized communication formats allow for direct output of Bluetooth, OFDM, LTE, or WLAN signals in conjunction with appropriate software support. Discriminated single-ended and differential outputs, as well as standardized control and data interfaces, are available for test setups. Typical applications include the development of radio modules, testing of RF frontends, automotive pulse testing, and validation of high-speed serial links.
