Technical description
Continuity testing checks all pins for opens, shorts, and basically correct wiring to avoid dangerous situations like VBUS shorts on data signals, VBUS/GND reversal, etc.
DC Resistance ("DCR") testing confirms that each power pin (VBUS and GND) can conduct the required current to meet applicable specifications. With Type-C cables, each power pin is measured individually and then the entire cable is tested. Pass/fail criteria ensure the cable meets specification requirements, e.g. B. Type-C IR Drop. If present, Type-C SBU and CC lines are also checked for DCR.
During the e-marker test, the data is read from all existing e-markers and the specified data and performance are compared with the actual measured parameters of the cable and checked. In addition, product specifications such as manufacturer ID, product ID, test ID, firmware and hardware versions can be defined by the operator, this makes it easier to determine pass/fail criteria of the cables, e.g. in a Q process.
Lightning testing ensures proper operation of the Lightning connector. Proper activation of the Lightning connector, overvoltage protection, quiescent current consumption and other parameters are tested according to the Apple MFi specification.
A REST API is available for integrating the Advanced Cable Tester v2 into a larger test infrastructure. This integration can be realized at a high level: e.g. only the real-time pass/fail indication function can be integrated or full test reports: retrieving all test details for custom processing, analysis, logging etc.
