The USB Type-C connector and USB Power Delivery, the specification for charging electronic devices via USB with up to 100 watts, are the two most significant advancements in USB in years. The Type-C connector has a significantly smaller footprint, a reversible architecture - you no longer have to worry about the orientation of the USB cable -, support for faster transfer rates, more power and the Alternate Protocol.

With USB Power Delivery 3.0 (USB-PD) you can adapt the power supply and data transmission to individual needs in a very flexible way. These new functions are based on the previous USB generations and enable, among other things, the combination of video transmission and simultaneous charging of the device.

By combining the USB Power Delivery Analyzer with the free Data Center™ software, you can log, monitor and decode the power supply on the CC1/CC2 pins (configuration channel) while simultaneously monitoring the USB 2.0 and USB 3.1 (up to to Gen2) data line is used. With a planned software update you will have the additional option of monitoring and logging the voltage and current of the VBUS and VCONN. These correlate with the Power Delivery data itself and can be displayed.
